Not only do we work with county bowling associations and both indoor and outdoor bowls clubs across the UK, we’re also proud to work with Bowls England, the national governing body for lawn bowls.
Using the system we developed, Bowls England can create a wide range of different competition types with specific scoring rules. Competitions can also be divided into early rounds and final stages.
Additionally, entrants can initially be grouped by geographical area. At this stage, all competitors go through and play a match within their county. Winners go through to final stages and, at this point, a new knockout tournament is created, where winners from each area can play each other.
Players can enter competitions online and pay entry fees safely and securely via the Stripe payment gateway.
Because not everyone will use card payments, there is an option for Bowls England to create separate entries in the backend of the system and make a note that people will be paying by different methods. This streamlines admin and helps the management team track payment information.
A major benefit of the Bowlr system is that it streamlines admin and automates comms to clubs and players. For example, players receive an automated email once match fixtures are generated, as well as who they’ll play next when they win their match.
“We have been delighted to work with Bowlr to develop our competitions portal over the past few years. We now have a robust system that enables us to manage our events from the first round to the national finals. The team behind Bowlr is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the sport, which makes all the difference.”
Alistair Hollis, Head of Sport Development at Bowls England
