The Dolphin Indoor Bowls Club located in Poole, Dorset is one of the largest indoor bowling clubs in the country with 11 rinks and over 1,000 members.

THE BRIEF

Having become frustrated with their existing management system, which was out-of-date, unworkable and time-consuming, the Dolphin Club started to look for a replacement system for managing their memberships, creating leagues and co-ordinating their numerous tournaments and competitions. They were also looking to modernise their online presence with a brand new website.

THE SOLUTION

They contacted b4b marketing and following several meetings getting to know exactly what the Dolphin Club were looking for, we set about building a new club management system specifically designed for their needs as a leading indoor bowls club.

We also took the challenge to design the Dolphin Club a brand new website.

After extensive testing and working in conjunction with the club, Dolphin introduced the Bowlr system to their management and members, and launched their new website. Feedback has demonstrated that the new system and website have been “a tremendous success story” for the club.

THE RESULT

Using the Bowlr system, the Dolphin Club now have an online diary and booking system, which has made booking the rinks much easier for their members and staff alike. Members can view rink availability online via the calendar, which is continually updated by the club, and with a click of the mouse or touch pad, book their slot. Club administrators no longer have to endure lengthy phone calls explaining which rinks are available and when.

All contact details for members are now stored in one easily accessible place thanks to Bowlr. Contact details can be updated in an instant and all financial transactions linked to their membership fees can be tracked and chased if necessary.

The main area which has reduced the administration time for club employees thereby releasing them for other duties within the club is the league and competition manager module, which can generate teams and leagues based on the members in the system. We even created a clever built-in feature which ensures that members play on all rinks rather than just their favourite!

The Dolphin Club have commented that the fact that the system is cloud based, which means that users can log into the system from their desktop PC at the club or their laptop at home, has been key in streamlining their processes. Unlike other systems, the management of the club isn’t restricted to the one PC based at the club which only one person can access at any one time.

Club management and members alike have embraced our new, forward-thinking technology and within just a week of introducing rink-side iPads, 95% of members were using them to enter their scores after a match – a great testament to how clear and easy to navigate the Bowlr system really is!
